India’s gross GST collections rose 14.8% year-on-year to ₹1.99 lakh crore in August 2026, compared with ₹1.74 lakh crore in August 2025. The increase was supported by stronger domestic collections and a sharp rise in GST collected on imports, with gross domestic revenue growing 9.3% and import-related revenue rising 29%.
After accounting for refunds, net GST revenue stood at ₹1.68 lakh crore, up 8.3% from a year earlier. Cumulatively, gross GST collections during April–August 2026 reached ₹10.43 lakh crore, marking 11% growth over the same period last year. The figures point to continued growth in tax collections and provide an important indicator of economic and business activity.
