The Indian Navy’s guided-missile frigate INS Trishul completed a three-day port visit to Alexandria, Egypt, from September 14 to 17, 2026, strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Egypt. The Indian warship received a warm welcome, with Egyptian naval ship ENS Al Qadeer escorting it into Alexandria Harbour. During the visit, INS Trishul conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Egyptian naval ship ENS Bernees. The exercise included coordinated manoeuvres, communication drills and practice approaches for replenishment at sea, allowing personnel from both navies to exchange expertise and improve operational coordination. The ship’s commanding officer and crew also paid tribute to Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the two World Wars at the Chatby War Memorial in Alexandria. The memorial bears the names of 19 Indian soldiers who died when ships were sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean. India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy, also visited the ship and interacted with its crew. The visit reaffirmed the longstanding defense partnership between India and Egypt and highlighted both countries’ commitment to strengthening maritime security and naval cooperation.
