India’s private space sector is taking another step toward reusable rockets. Chennai-based space startup Agnikul Cosmos has inaugurated two new specialised facilities at its Assembly & Testing Facility, strengthening its ability to test rocket stages, inspect recovered hardware and manufacture critical components in-house.
The two facilities are the Stage Testing & Inspection Facility (STIF) and the Pressurant Tank Realisation, Over-wrapping and Outfitting Facility (PROOF). They were inaugurated on September 8 in the presence of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, a Gaganyaan astronaut-designate.
The expansion comes as Agnikul prepares for its next major mission, Mission-02, and works toward developing launch systems that can eventually be recovered, inspected, requalified and flown again.
