Delhi has secured the top position in the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) 2025, released by NITI Aayog in collaboration with WRI India, scoring 84 out of 100. Maharashtra ranked second with 78 points, followed by Karnataka (73), Chandigarh (71) and Goa (65).
The index evaluates all 28 states and 8 Union Territories using 16 indicators across three key areas: electric vehicle adoption, charging infrastructure and EV research and innovation. It measures how well regions are progressing towards electric mobility.
Delhi’s top ranking reflects its progress in promoting electric vehicles and developing cleaner transport systems. The index also highlights the importance of better charging facilities, supportive policies and continued innovation to accelerate India’s shift towards sustainable mobility.
