The Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) have signed an MoU for FY 2026–27 in New Delhi to improve the efficiency, accountability and modernisation of India’s foodgrain management system.
The agreement sets clear performance targets for FCI, with a focus on reducing storage losses, making better use of storage capacity, improving logistics and supply chains, and strengthening foodgrain quality checks. It also promotes greater use of digital technology and modern IT systems to improve transparency and monitoring.
The MoU also includes training and skill development for FCI employees so they can adopt newer technologies and modern foodgrain management practices. Some targets will be linked to the performance of FCI depots through the Depot Darpan Portal, which tracks depot infrastructure and operational efficiency.
