IAF Joins Hands With 930 Indian Firms To Boost Indigenous Maintenance
August 30, 2026 • National
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has partnered with around 930 Indian companies to strengthen indigenous maintenance and reduce dependence on foreign support for the upkeep of its aircraft and other defence equipment. The initiative brings Indian firms into the maintenance ecosystem, covering areas such as repair, overhaul, servicing and supply of critical components.
The move is part of India’s broader push for self-reliance in defense, with greater participation from domestic industries expected to improve maintenance capabilities, reduce turnaround time and strengthen the availability of operational equipment. It also creates opportunities for Indian companies to develop specialized expertise and contribute more actively to the country’s defense manufacturing and maintenance sector.
