The Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy conducted the 13th edition of their annual maritime exercise, SLINEX-26, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, from September 17 to 21, 2026. The exercise aimed to strengthen naval cooperation, improve coordination between the two forces and enhance their ability to conduct joint maritime operations.
India participated with INS Kavaratti, an anti-submarine warfare corvette, and INS Jyoti, a fleet tanker, while Sri Lanka deployed its naval ship SLNS Sindurala. The exercise was conducted in two phases: the Harbour Phase, featuring professional exchanges and cross-deck visits, and the Sea Phase, involving coordinated naval drills and operational training.
Established in 2005, SLINEX provides a platform for both countries to share expertise, strengthen maritime security, and build closer defense ties. The exercise also supports India’s MAHASAGAR vision of promoting security and cooperation across the Indian Ocean region.
