India Bags 9 Medals At International Earth Science Olympiad

India recorded its best-ever medal haul at the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) 2026, held in Turin, Italy, from 20–27 August 2026. The four-member Indian student team won 9 medals — 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze — competing against participants from 39 countries.
The Indian contingent competed across Written and Practical Examinations, International Team Field Investigation (ITFI), and Earth Science Project (ESP) categories. Soumik Mandal of DAV Model School, Durgapur, West Bengal, delivered a particularly strong performance, winning 2 Gold and 1 Silver medal and securing 3rd position in the overall global ranking.
The other members of the Indian team were Aaron Maiti, Riddhi Ranjan and Md Ehtesham Rizwi. Aaron Maiti won 1 Gold and 1 Bronze, while Riddhi Ranjan secured 1 Gold and 1 Silver. Md Ehtesham Rizwi won 1 Silver and 1 Bronze.
