India, Japan To Invest Together In Africa’s Critical Minerals
August 26, 2026 • International
India and Japan are planning to jointly invest in Africa’s critical-mineral sector to build more reliable and diversified supply chains. The partnership is aimed at securing key resources needed for electric vehicles, batteries, semiconductors, renewable-energy equipment and other advanced industries.
The move reflects the growing global focus on reducing dependence on a limited number of mineral suppliers. By combining India’s growing demand and investment capabilities with Japan’s technology and industrial expertise, the two countries can strengthen their access to Africa’s mineral resources while supporting greater investment and value creation in African economies.
