India ranked 131st out of 145 countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2026, with a gender parity score of 64.5%. The index measures gender gaps across four key areas: economic participation, education, health and political empowerment. While India performed relatively well in education and health, gaps remain in women’s economic opportunities and political representation. The findings highlight the need to strengthen women’s participation in the workforce and leadership positions.
