India’s Jay Meena created history at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan by winning India’s first-ever medal in soft tennis. He secured bronze in the men’s singles event after reaching the semi-finals, following a thrilling 4–3 quarter-final victory over the Philippines’ Sherwin Nuguit.
Meena fought back from a difficult start and won four consecutive points in the deciding tie-break to seal his semi-final spot. He later lost to Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka in the last four, but his semi-final finish guaranteed India a historic bronze medal.
