The Kedarnath Nagar Panchayat, alongside the Healing Himalayas Foundation, implemented the strict "Carry Me Back" waste management policy for pilgrims visiting the sacred shrine. Under this Jan Bhagidari (public participation) initiative, pilgrims are tracked via QR codes on plastic bags and items. They are incentivized or legally required to bring back their dry and plastic waste to baseline collection centers to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
