NITI Aayog’s e-FAST India (Electric Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport – India) has launched the Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission freight vehicles across India. The platform was introduced at the 5th e-FAST India Summit 2026, held on September 7, 2026. PACT is designed to aggregate freight demand across India by continuously engaging with stakeholders from the freight and transport ecosystem. The objective is to bring together demand, investment interest and available technology so that zero-emission trucks can be deployed at a larger scale and their commercial viability can be strengthened. The initiative focuses particularly on the transition towards zero-emission trucks (ZETs) in the medium- and heavy-duty freight segment. These vehicles can include battery-electric and other zero-tailpipe-emission technologies, depending on the application and available infrastructure. A major challenge in freight electrification is the coordination required between fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers, logistics companies, financiers and charging-infrastructure providers. PACT aims to address this coordination gap by creating a platform where freight demand can be aggregated and connected with the supply, financing and infrastructure required for cleaner transportation.
