Odisha Gets Approval For Second Semiconductor Manufacturing Unit
September 16, 2026 • Economy
Odisha has received approval for its second semiconductor manufacturing unit, with SiCSem Private Limited set to invest ₹3,406.25 crore in a new facility at IDCO Infovalley-II in Khordha district. The project, approved by the Unit Approval Committee under the Falta Special Economic Zone, will be spread across approximately 21.9 acres and is expected to generate around 1,270 jobs.
The facility will manufacture Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor devices, including SiC diodes and SiC MOSFETs. These specialised components are important for managing high power and temperature conditions and are used in applications such as electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and industrial equipment.
The proposed unit is expected to produce 4.8 million SiC diodes and 91.2 million SiC MOSFETs annually. It is also projected to generate export turnover of ₹7,043 crore over five years, strengthening Odisha’s position as an emerging centre for advanced electronics manufacturing.
The project is part of India’s broader effort to expand domestic semiconductor production, reduce dependence on imported components and build a stronger technology and manufacturing ecosystem. It is expected to support skilled employment, exports and the development of advanced semiconductor capabilities in the country.
