Rajasthan and Haryana have signed a historic agreement to implement the long-pending Yamuna Water Project, marking the resolution of a decades-old water-sharing issue. Signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the pact will facilitate the transfer of Rajasthan's allocated share of Yamuna water through a dedicated underground pipeline network. The project is expected to provide reliable drinking water to water-scarce regions, particularly Rajasthan's Shekhawati belt, while also benefiting parts of Haryana. In addition to improving water availability, the initiative aims to reduce dependence on groundwater, strengthen water security, support agriculture, and promote sustainable regional development through cooperative federalism.
