RIL Plans India’s First Underground Coal Gasification Project

Reliance Industries has proposed a ₹2.73 lakh crore investment to develop India’s first integrated Underground Coal Gasification complex in Andhra Pradesh. The project will use deep coal reserves to produce synthetic gas (syngas), which can be used in industries such as chemicals and fertilisers. The project will be developed in phases, starting with exploration and pilot testing.
