Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 September 2026 launched, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara, Gujarat. The projects cover major areas including railways, highways, freight transport, urban development, housing, water supply and renewable energy. A major highlight was the dedication of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) covering 326 route kilometres, developed at a cost of more than ₹20,700 crore. With these sections becoming operational, the entire Dedicated Freight Corridor network is now fully operational, improving freight connectivity between industrial centres and ports and helping reduce logistics costs. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for three railway projects spanning 329 km, costing over ₹9,700 crore, and three National Highway projects worth around ₹1,780 crore. These projects are aimed at increasing passenger and freight capacity, easing congestion and strengthening connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. In addition, around ₹2,600 crore worth of Gujarat government projects were launched or inaugurated. These include Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II, a 110-MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, PMAY housing projects and a water-supply project covering 11 villages in eastern Vadodara.
