Russian Drone Strike Hits Passenger Train Bound For Warsaw
September 15, 2026 • International
A Russian drone struck the locomotive of a Kyiv–Warsaw passenger train near Yahodyn in Ukraine’s Volyn region, close to the Polish border. The attack took place on September 13, 2026, as Russia carried out a wider wave of drone and missile strikes across Ukraine.
Railway officials said the threat was detected in time, allowing the train crew to warn passengers and move them to safety. No passengers or railway staff were injured, although the locomotive was damaged.
The incident drew attention because the train was travelling only about 2 kilometers from Poland, a NATO member. It also highlighted the growing risks faced by Ukraine’s railway network, which remains an important route for both domestic and international passenger transport.
