WEF Ranks India As World’s Strongest Growth Outlook
September 23, 2026 • National
India has emerged as the economy with the strongest growth outlook globally, according to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) September 2026 Chief Economists’ Outlook. The survey found that 74% of economists expect India to achieve strong or very strong growth over the next 12 months, up from 52% in May. Overall, 98% anticipate at least moderate growth.
The report attributes India’s positive outlook largely to resilient domestic demand and raised its GDP growth forecast for the 2026–27 financial year to 6.7%. However, higher energy prices remain a challenge. The survey also noted that India’s ranking for business attractiveness to multinational companies fell to fourth place, highlighting the difference between strong growth prospects and the ease of doing business.
