India hosted the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13, 2026, bringing together leaders of all 11 BRICS member countries under India’s 2026 chairship. The summit was held at Bharat Mandapam under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
The expanded BRICS grouping now includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. The 2026 summit also included 10 partner countries as part of the wider BRICS engagement.
The discussions covered areas such as global governance, trade and investment, technology, energy and food security, healthcare, disaster resilience and critical supply chains. India also placed emphasis on strengthening cooperation among developing and emerging economies and giving the Global South a greater voice in international institutions.
A major outcome of the summit was the adoption of the 140-point New Delhi Declaration, which outlined the members’ shared positions and priorities on global governance, economic cooperation, sustainable development, terrorism, conflicts, trade and other international issues. The declaration also supported China’s BRICS chairship for 2027.
