Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal Appointed Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice

Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, succeeding the period of the court functioning under an Acting Chief Justice. The appointment was formally notified by the Central Government, following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium on 31 August 2026. He took oath as Chief Justice on 7 September 2026.
Justice Agrawal was previously a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. He was born on 15 July 1965 and holds B.Sc., LL.B. and LL.M. degrees. He was enrolled as an advocate in 1989 and was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court in 2013, becoming a permanent judge in 2016.
The Supreme Court Collegium had separately recommended his transfer from the Chhattisgarh High Court to the Rajasthan High Court and his appointment as its Chief Justice. His appointment provides Rajasthan High Court with a regular Chief Justice and marks a change in its judicial and administrative leadership.
