Maharashtra has banned the sale of loose or unpackaged edible oil across the state. From now on, edible oil must be sold in properly sealed and labelled packaging, helping consumers check important details such as the product’s source, manufacturing date and expiry date. The move is aimed at improving food safety, preventing adulteration and making the supply chain easier to track.
