Oman is promoting Sohar Port as an alternative trade route for India, offering businesses access to Gulf and West Asian markets while reducing reliance on traditional shipping routes affected by regional disruptions. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz, the port provides cargo-handling facilities and industrial infrastructure to support trade and logistics.
The initiative aims to strengthen India–Oman trade relations, create opportunities for Indian exporters and manufacturers, and improve access to regional markets.
