The Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Rail Project has achieved another major milestone with the successful breakthrough of its 41st tunnel. The project is one of Uttarakhand’s biggest railway infrastructure developments and is designed to improve rail connectivity in the Himalayan region.
Most of the railway line passes through mountains, making tunnel construction the most challenging part of the project. With the completion of the 41st tunnel, work has moved a significant step closer to linking Rishikesh with Karnaprayag, reducing travel time and providing safer, faster transport for people living in the hill districts.
Once completed, the rail line is expected to boost tourism, improve connectivity to the Char Dham region, support local businesses, and strengthen economic development across Uttarakhand.
