The 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference was held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 13 to 19 September 2026. Organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in collaboration with the South African Parliament, the conference brought together parliamentarians and parliamentary officials from across the Commonwealth to discuss key issues affecting democracy and governance. The conference theme was “Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership.” Discussions focused on strengthening democratic institutions, upholding the rule of law, improving parliamentary accountability and encouraging cooperation among Commonwealth countries. The event also provided a platform for parliamentarians to share experiences, exchange ideas and discuss ways to make legislative institutions more transparent, inclusive, and effective.
