Trump Calls On Ukraine To Halt Attacks On Russian Oil Sites
September 15, 2026 • International
U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to stop targeting Russian oil and diesel facilities, saying the attacks are contributing to fuel shortages and pushing up diesel prices.
Trump said Ukraine should avoid striking Russia’s diesel infrastructure, arguing that the disruption is affecting fuel supplies beyond the two countries. Ukraine, however, has maintained that Russian oil refineries and energy facilities are legitimate military targets, particularly as Russia continues to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
The issue has also raised concerns in global energy markets, as repeated strikes on refineries have disrupted fuel production and added pressure to already high diesel prices.
