The European Union has proposed making Canada its first associate member to strengthen cooperation in trade, defense, Arctic security and emerging technologies. The proposed partnership aims to deepen strategic ties, improve supply-chain resilience and expand collaboration in critical sectors. However, the proposal is still under consideration, and the terms of associate membership remain to be defined.
