India and the United States began the 22nd edition of their joint military exercise, Yudh Abhyas 2026, on September 15, with training taking place at Auli in Uttarakhand and the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. Around 600 personnel from each country are participating in the exercise.
The training focuses on improving coordination between the two armies, particularly for operations in mountainous and semi-mountainous terrain. Activities include infantry operations, drone and autonomous-system training, and demonstrations of advanced weapon systems. The exercise also provides an opportunity to exchange military tactics and strengthen defense cooperation between India and the US.
