The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked all airlines in India to carry out a one-time drug test for every commercial pilot. The decision has been taken to strengthen aviation safety and ensure that pilots are medically fit to operate aircraft.
Under the new direction, every airline will conduct the screening as part of a nationwide safety drive. Any pilot who fails the test will be taken off flying duty immediately and will be allowed to return only after completing the required medical examination and clearance process. The initiative is intended to make safety checks more robust and reinforce the highest standards of passenger safety in Indian aviation.
